  1. Blitz is the former Blazer of Paget, a German Frers designed 1 tonner built for the 1985 One Ton Cup in Poole for the well known Bermudan yachtsman Deforest 'Shorty' Trimingham (the clue is the original KB 5 number still on the mainsail cover).

Shorty was apparently something of a legend and I had the pleasure of meeting him & German when I helped with the measurement checks at the OTC. The boat was very well prepared and they were genuinely interested that I was about to start the yacht design course at Southampton.

No idea where she is now though there is a very good thread on Sailing Anarchy covering the restoration of her predecessor, the Holland 41 'Flirt of Paget'

  2. Hi, I bought her in 1992 and took to Ibiza where she was raced up until 1998, after which she was sold to Belgium and I believe then converted for cruising in the West Indies. Great boat especially in a strong breeze...beat Jade many times like that

  3. Hi,
I bought Blitz in Ibiza in 1999 and modified her for single handed sailing. Sailed several years on the Atlantic uptill Argentina. Returning to the North the keel was badly leaking and getting loose from the hull. I had to abandon her near the Equator mid Atlantic in June 2013. Got rescued by a freighter.
A very good design but Holby Marine did use poor craftmanship to build her. A lot of basic problems in the hull. It took me a long time to maker her sound. The keel attachment has always been a problem and I'm convinced the previous owner was aware of these problems.
