Rakau - Three Quarter Ton IOR Yacht

Rakau is a Three Quarter Ton IOR Yacht. The picture I took was taken many years ago in Plymouth marina after the Fastnet Race. Do you know what design she is ?????? She has a very nice wooded stern
Wgere is this yacht now ?

  2. Rakau is a Stephen Jones 1 tonner (27.5 ft IOR), launched in 1981, I think built by the Webb brothers in Lymington for a couple of New Zealanders based in the UK. I raced against her in the 81 Lymington spring series. She was a stunning looking boat with her marquetry transom and very succesful, being RORC yacht of the year one year. Was later sold to France but no idea of her after that.

Would love to here she's still around & being looked after!

  3. She is still around. I saw her on 10 May 2013 at Veere (the Netherlands), lovingly maintained, under Dutch flag. Unfortunately I had no camera at hand.

  6. I am pretty sure she was built in Burridge near the Hamble not in Lymington. She had a refit there too. Raced against her in Solent Points and always a favourite of mine. Patrick Pym helmed her quite a bit.
